(I wrote this review back in March but, why not post it here as well?)
As if he couldn't get any more real than with his first cd, Eric Church bluntly dishes it out to us again. "Carolina" is another great, satisfying album from the North Carolina born singer/song writer.
A song off of the album that really caught my attention was "Where She Told Me To Go". It's about a guy who realizes what he's lost when he lost HER. It's a "Don't Know What You've Got Till it's Gone" song. But, it's anything but typical. Listen to it and you'll see exately what I mean.
Another track that I'm majorly impressed by is the lead off single "Love Your Love The Most". Knowing that Eric doesn't usually lean towards the love songs, this one is certainly worthy of a coming out party. It's very honest & intimate. Gotta love it.
"Smoke A Little Smoke" is a groovy (yes, I said it) song those title I feel is very self-explanatory. It wants you to chill out and not think about tomorrow. It's a good time. And I also can't help but think of Willie Nelson when listening to it.
This album has pleasantly suprised me as I honestly thought he couldn't top his first one (the very well-recieved 2006's "Sinners Like Me"). Which one is better? To me, it's too close to call... Pop it in and redundancy is one word that won't come to mind. What you'll get is a 2nd round dose of intelligent realism with sharp vocals along with a little KICK ASS. I got it yesterday (the day after it was released) and honestly have not stopped listening to it. You know alot of country music nowadays is foolishly fake but, this guy will tell you straight up how it is. Sinners Like Me love this CD!
Stand out songs:
1. "Lotta Boot Left To Fill"
2. "Where She Told Me To Go"
3. "Love Your Love The Most"
4. "Smoke a Little Smoke"
5. "Those I've Loved"
